Colbert report – featuring Google’s head honcho

BY THE GOOGLE CHIC

AppleGirl would love this video! She’s always griping about Google’s highway robbery of your personal info so that it can use it to predict your likes and dislikes. Now you can hear it directly from Google’s CEO himself, Eric Schmidt. Last night on Colbert report, Eric stated that Google “collects” data from the web and uses “algorithms” to return your search results. Oh, and it also “forgets” the searches after awhile and no Google is not “evil” :)!

Check out the video, it’s just too funny and  Eric Schmidt was a good sport!

That’s one funny video! You know I love jokes at Google’s expense! 🙂

When Eric Schmidt said  “Forgetting user searches is a law in many countries”, he might have been referring to European Union’s recommendation to delete data after six months after it was collected.  While Microsoft actually hits the delete button on the browser history after 6 months, Google keeps the data and makes only your IP address anonymous after 9 months (So when Schmidt said “forget” he did not mean “delete”)

Amongst all this data mining conundrum, I would sure as hell like to make sure that I have not opted in for Google Web History (which means Google keeps all your web history forever or atleast until you turn it off)!

As funny as the video is, Eric Schmidt has been a joke for making stupid comments! Check out Colbert himself taking some good shots at Schmidt and Google.
