iPhone 3D vs. Android 3D

Have you ever wondered if you could watch movies and play games on the iPhone in 3D? The answer is yes, you can!

Hasbro Inc is ready to launch a handheld device called My3D, that attaches to the iPhone, for a 3D experience in gaming, virtual travel and entertainment content. My3D is set to release in Spring 2011 and all for only $30. I like the price, however I am not crazy about the device which is basically a pair of binoculars with a slot to insert the iPhone.

Compared to the size of the My3D, the Vuzix 3D glasses are a little more stylish, but come with a bigger price tag of $199. They are worn like regular glasses with a single removable battery with a 7 hour life. If you are one of those who spends half your life in an airplane ,then this toy will  be handy.

If you hate wearing glasses, don’t worry you still have options! Wazabee 3DeeShells gives you an auto stereoscopic 3D display and you can watch your 3D content glass free for $50. The 3DeeShell wraps around the phone like a case and features a 3D lens that’s removable when not in use. The 3DeeShells are also available for the MacBook Air. You might as well convert your super sleek Air into a 3D display.

To top it off, Apple is exploring the possibility of 3D  glasses, which is basically a wearable stereoscopic display that  would stream audio and video content wirelessly from a pocketable device.  With Apple set to release Airplay (wireless media streaming), it looks like the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are falling in place 🙂

Sorry to disappoint, but Android doesn’t have any ugly 3D glasses on the market. Did you ever own a View-Master 3D growing up? That’s what the My3D looks like to me (lol).

Okay, jokes aside, Sharp is releasing two new Android phones which will support stereoscopic display which AppleGirl talked about. The Galapagos 003SH and 005SH will also be able to take 3D pictures (sweetness!) and take 720p videos as well. The differences between the 003SH and 005SH is that the 005SH (depicted in white below) sports a full QWERTY keyboard and a lower resolution camera; 8.0 megapixel only.  The 003SH (depicted in red & black below)  has 9.6 megapixel camera. Both of the phones have a 3.8 inch display and a 1 GHz snapdragon processor.

The only down side is that the phones are being released in Japan, no news if it’ll come to the US just yet.
