From Steve Jobs Biography “I’m going to destroy Android”

Steve Jobs’ biography by Walter Isaacson is expected for release on October 24. The Associated Press obtained an early copy of the book, and shared some highlights about it.

On HTC’s introduction of an Android phone that boasted much of the popular features of the iPhone, the book says that Steve called it a “grand theft”

“I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Jobs said. “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”

Jobs used an expletive to describe Android and Google Docs, Google’s Internet-based word processing program. In a subsequent meeting with Schmidt at a Palo Alto, Calif., cafe, Jobs told Schmidt that he wasn’t interested in settling the lawsuit, the book says.

“I don’t want your money. If you offer me $5 billion, I won’t want it. I’ve got plenty of money. I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that’s all I want.”

The biography also hints a new product that Apple may have in the pipeline – an integrated HDTV

“‘I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use,’ he told me. ‘It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud.’ No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. ‘It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.'”

Apple’s design guru, Jonathan Ive is also spoken about in the book.

He called Jonathan Ive, Apple’s design chief, his “spiritual partner” at Apple. He told Isaacson that Ive had “more operation power” at Apple than anyone besides Jobs himself — that there’s no one at the company who can tell Ive what to do. That, says Jobs, is “the way I set it up.”

Ive, Apple’s Senior Vice President for Industrial Design, has been at Apple for nearly 20 years and is responsible for the iconic product designs that the company has released.

The biography has been having record pre-orders. If you haven’t yet ordered the best Steve Jobs memorabilia, then do so now 🙂 You can order it here.

Just for kicks – Who is Obama’s favorite techie?

Check out this picture from Obama’s dinner with the tech titans! He is flanked by the techie darling Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs! 🙂

Do you see Eric Shmidt at the far end of the table? Just saying 😉

President Obama this week announced, in his weekly address that education is the key in the creation of the “next Intel, next Google or next Microsoft”.

“That’s how we’ll ensure that the next Intel, the next Google, or the next Microsoft is created in America, and hires American workers.”

There’s no mention of Apple, hey I’m just saying 😉

Google to compete with iTunes?

Rumors are flying around that Google is in search for a Google music head. Many sources cite that Eric Shmidt is attempting licensing deals with record companies. So, is Google planning a rival to Apple iTunes?

I think that by the time Google comes out with its music store, iTunes will be way ahead in the horizon with a cloud based iTunes store or an iTunes store with social networking features! Come Sept 1 with Apple’s special event, Schmidt might want to rethink his strategy!

Another Google failure coming up! Too little , too late! GoogleChic, I am sure you disagree! 😉

Too little, too late, really? What happens now when you google a song that you’re interested in? Google search returns youtube results along with the most relevant results.

AppleGirl, remember awhile back when you were making fun of Chrome OS? I recall that in the Chrome OS demo (cloud based OS by the way) when you searched for a song, you could stream the song directly from the search page. Now put that together with Google’s powerful engine to recommend songs based on your preferences, search criteria and the ability to instantly buy the song. Sounds pretty cool to me. Yes, a Google music store will benefit Android users but I think it goes beyond that and benefits web users as well. It looks like Google is trying to bring it up a notch!

Apple, invasion of privacy?

AppleGirl is always harping on the fact that Google is “spying” and trying to steal your personal info. It looks like Apple is now trying to patent a kill switch to lock down your iPhone. Apple will try to use an audio/visual detection to identify if the user of the phone is it’s rightful owner, if not it could allow for you to remote wipe your phone.

That sounds good right? However, unlocked and jail-broken phones are also considered unauthorized users. This means that your phone carrier could potentially shut down your phone. Hmm, AppleGirl how does this sound to you now? An invasion of privacy?

haha GoogleChic, you should be the last person to be complaining about digital privacy when you are giving away yours without any fuss to Google 🙂

Apple is being quite clever with the kill-switch patent and it is more so to protect its users than to invade anyones privacy. If someone were to steal my iPhone, they would probably unlock/jailbreak it before selling it. This is exactly the pattern Apple is going after.

Sadly, jailbreaking gets more love from the news  than Apple’s attempt to reassure its users, corporate and others, that their information is secure on their iDevices!

P.S: This has nothing to do with Eric Schmidt or Google, but I just couldn’t resist the picture 😉

Chump change for a fancy phone?

Gresso released the Las Vegas Jackpot phone which cost only a million dollars. That’s chump change for Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt right?

For the night out on the town our techy CEO’s should spot something fancy; black diamonds, sapphires, 200 yr old African blackwood.

Although, there’s no details on the specs of the phone. Maybe you can get Android 2.2 or i OS 4 loaded on it 🙂

P.S Steve Jobs, at least there’s no gap in the phone so you can hold it however you want!

GoogleChic, I am not sure about Eric Schmidt, but I can assure you that Jobs is not going for that gold brick! Google, go ahead, be another Microsoft and flaunt your worthlessness in a million dollar structure. iOS on that .. NO WAY!

While we are talking about fancy phones, Gresso’s exclusive iPhone is something girls are going to drool over. Guys, if you are rolling in money and want to buy your girl a classy case for Christmas. This is it!
