Antennagate, now glassgate?

Just a couple of months ago, Steve Jobs had to deal with the whole Antennagate fiasco. Job’s solution to the whole antennagate problem was to slap a case on the iPhone and  problem solved! Now, ironically there are reports in which slide-on cases can trap dirt that causes scratches on the back panel, which in it of itself isn’t a huge deal. However, the scratches can lead to cracks and in worse case scenarios cracking of the back panel all together. Supposedly, Apple has pulled some of these cases and started a testing program to determine if  there really is an issue.

AppleGirl, I sure hope you got the bumper for your iPhone. Wouldn’t want that pretty phone of yours to get shattered 😉

GooleChic, let me count the number of months it’s been since the iPhone  4 was released.

How many customers have complained about the so called “glassgate”?

Your story purports to come from a blogger who got the news from “sources both inside and outside Apple”.  Are we all so dumb to believe one person’s unwarranted claim?

Design flaws are born out of customer issues. Go ahead, search the web and find me a customer complaint about this. Lets look for real issues (like loose hinges on T-Mobile’s G2 and yes, that’s what you call a customer issue) instead of smacktalk.

Suck it up Androids, it’s time to accept it that your Android phones will never match up to the iPhone. 😉 GoogleChic, I know you are jealous of the sheer glass edgy look of the iPhone and its retina display. You cannot deny that using sliding cases and dirt traps.

T-Mobile’s G2

A new addition to the Android smart phone gang is T-Mobile’s G2. T-Mobile just added this new brick (yeah literally a brick!) into the Android wall. It comes pre-loaded with Android 2.2. If you are one of those “ I am too old fashioned, I can’t use a multi touch display” types, then you will like the hefty keyboard you can pull out on the G2.

The phone doesn’t have AMOLED display like the Samsung Galaxy S, doesn’t have a front facing camera, and not even a 1GHz processor (comes with 800MHz).  Let alone outdoing the iPhone, G2 seems to be struggling to get past the Samsung Galaxy S. Engadget reports users complaining of loose hinges and some G2’s were shipped with only 2GB of memory (half the 4GB of promised storage)!

The only thing that stands out to me is that the G2 comes with HSPA+ support, which can handle upto 14.4Mbps.  Hopefully you live in one of those cities in which T-Mobile supports HSPA to actually make use of the high network speed. GoogleChic, the phone lacks tethering capabilities. Are you just about ready to give T-Mobile a piece of your mind? 🙂

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I would love to say that the G2 superiorly surpasses the G1, but I’m throughly disappointed! The G2 does look 10 times slicker than the G1, but it actually weights more than the G1 which is a shocker (no wonder AppleGirl called it a brick). The G2 weights 6.3 oz (180 g) compared to the G1 at 5.6 oz (158 g). If you compare the G2 to the Samsung Epic 4G it weights a lot more, the Epic weights 4.5 oz only and it has a full QWERTY keyboard. Not to mention the Epic 4G has a 4inch display as compared to the 3.2 on the G2.

Honestly, all you keyboard lovers out there I say you get to practicing on the virtual keyboard. Practice make perfect and you can opt for the upcoming new T-mobile myTouch instead.

The myTouch supports HSPA like the G2 but it also has a front facing camera as well. You can now use Qik with your EVO friends over HSPA 🙂 (yes, you’re not locked down to WiFi, hmm what does that sound like?)

As for T-mobile striping the tethering capabilities on the G2, I’m not too worried about that. There are tethering apps on the Market so just go download one 🙂
