Colbert report – featuring Google’s head honcho

BY THE GOOGLE CHIC

AppleGirl would love this video! She’s always griping about Google’s highway robbery of your personal info so that it can use it to predict your likes and dislikes. Now you can hear it directly from Google’s CEO himself, Eric Schmidt. Last night on Colbert report, Eric stated that Google “collects” data from the web and uses “algorithms” to return your search results. Oh, and it also “forgets” the searches after awhile and no Google is not “evil” :)!

Check out the video, it’s just too funny and  Eric Schmidt was a good sport!

That’s one funny video! You know I love jokes at Google’s expense! 🙂

When Eric Schmidt said  “Forgetting user searches is a law in many countries”, he might have been referring to European Union’s recommendation to delete data after six months after it was collected.  While Microsoft actually hits the delete button on the browser history after 6 months, Google keeps the data and makes only your IP address anonymous after 9 months (So when Schmidt said “forget” he did not mean “delete”)

Amongst all this data mining conundrum, I would sure as hell like to make sure that I have not opted in for Google Web History (which means Google keeps all your web history forever or atleast until you turn it off)!

As funny as the video is, Eric Schmidt has been a joke for making stupid comments! Check out Colbert himself taking some good shots at Schmidt and Google.

Android web usage climbs, Apple’s slip!

BY THE GOOGLE CHIC

Check out the pretty graph below. While Android web usage steadily climbs, iOS drops (and this includes the beloved iPods and iPads).  Maybe, Apple’s investors should take a look a closer look and study the Quantcast chart and invest wisely!

I’ll leave you pondering with this thought. “In business you either lead, follow, or get out of the way.  A steamroller driven by a friendly green robot is coming through, and that huge user base some others have been enjoying isn’t going to be enough to stop it.”

GoogleChic, its funny you should leave us pondering with that thought! It aptly describes Apple as a leader and Android as follower. Is’nt that the trend? Android following Apple’s innovative smart phone solutions, and the the bevy of handset makers, copying every single curve on the iPhone. GoogleChic, Do Galaxy S phones look like the iPhone to you? 🙂

Your chart indicates that iOS web consumption has been going down while Android web usage is going up. Are you telling me that Apple has miraculously got the web consumption down while still selling more devices than the Android? I would say that is ingenious.

Now here’s a thought for you to chew on. 10 users could each be using 1 unit of data on their iPhones and a single Android user could be using 100 units of data. With all the tethering allowed on  Android phones, I won’t be surprised if this is true. Does that indicate that Android’s market share is bigger than Apple’s?
